About
Prime Design Journal is for curious readers who want to understand why familiar objects, images, rooms and places look and work as they do. We take design as something to notice in ordinary life, not a test of specialist vocabulary.
What we cover
Our pages move between everyday objects, graphic communication, interiors, architecture and public space. A door handle, a printed page or a building entrance can each open up questions about form, materials, use and context.
Who it is for
You do not need a design background to read along. We write for people who have paused over a room, a sign or an object and wondered what makes it feel clear, awkward, inviting or hard to use.
How we look
We favour close observation and useful distinctions over grand claims. Design choices have trade-offs: we aim to explain what a choice does, what it may not do, and why its setting matters.
Design is made of choices
We look beyond whether something looks good to ask how its form, materials and setting shape the way people use it.
